STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The
reason for being or justification for existence ofGraceCommunityChurchis found in Acts
2:41-47.Here the Bible states
a four dimensional purpose for the New Testament church which we adopt as
our own purpose.As GraceCommunityChurchwe will focus on
these purposes as the basis of all decisions and ministries.
Worship
We
exist to worship and glorify God together as a body of believers.The ultimate purpose of our church is to glorify and honor God.May all that we do, say, or think as individual believers and as a
corporate body bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Edification
Our church exists to help believers become fd
Followers of Jesus
Christ.After Peter preached
and three thousand accepted the Lord, we read, “They continued
steadfastly in the Apostles’ doctrine” (Acts
2:42 ).We must not only win the lost, but we must also nurture new babies
in Christ.Edification
includes nurturing, maturing, and reproducing.We cannot be satisfied until every believer has become a mature
reproducer who is Christ-like.
Fellowship
We
exist to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs within the body
of Christ and provide a biblical means of mutual accountability.Not only did the New Testament church see three thousand saved and
continue daily in the Apostles’ doctrine, they also continued
steadfastly in the fellowship.Christian
fellowship means meeting the basic needs of every individual.We are our brother’s keeper.We must be accountable to one another.
Evangelism
Our
church exists to reach lost people for whom Jesus Christ died and rose
again.Luke 19:10 tells us that
the son of man came to seek and save that which was lost.Jesus provided salvation by His substitutionary death on the cross.After he rose from the dead and ascended back into heaven, He gave
the church the commission to take the gospel into all the world (Matthew
28:19-20).
